ALLAH (SWT) has commanded us in His sacred scripture to recite the Quran with tajweed, the art of proper pronunciation. “Recite the Quran modulating.” Tajweed is a system that serves as a roadmap to enhance the melodious and accurate recitation of the Quran. It was through this very method that the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed صلى الله عليه وسلم and subsequently recited by him.

Consequently, those who engage in reciting the holy Quran aspire to fulfill the prophetic promise of Prophet Mohammed صلى الله عليه وآلهِ وسلم: “Whoever recites the Quran correctly and proficiently will be in the company of dutiful and noble scribes, the angels of the preserved tablet (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).”

To facilitate accurate recitation, we have employed a practical understanding of phonology and color-coded specific letters. This approach expedites the correct recitation of the Quran. This system has enabled us to categorize these letters into three distinct groups, thereby enriching the reader’s comprehension and recollection of tajweed rules.

1. Letters necessitating expanded vocalization are highlighted in red.
2. Nasalized letters are denoted in green.
3. The dark blue color signifies the emphasis (R) of the letter, while the lighter blue hue indicates echoing sounds (qualquala).
4. Letters that are written but remain silent are shaded in gray.

By adopting this method, the reader acclimates to reciting the Quran with the same intuitive response as obeying traffic signals. Engaging in this elevated practice allows the reader to seamlessly apply 24 tajweed rules with precision, freeing the mind to contemplate and comprehend the profound meaning of the holy Quran.
