Description
The Level 1 Islamic Studies book by Weekend Learning is designed for 5-7-year-old children who are able to read brief sentences and write short phrases. It’s tailored for 1st-grade students, marking their initial year in a formal Islamic class. All lessons are thematically organized into distinct units. This book introduces the fundamental aspects of Islam to students who may have limited or no prior knowledge about Allah, Islam, the Qur’an, and the Messenger. The lessons aim to guide students through the basics of Islam, assuming no prior knowledge and taking the first steps toward a curriculum-based education. The goal is to keep it straightforward, enjoyable, and informative, providing an age-appropriate Islamic foundation. These concepts will be elaborated upon at higher grade levels. The book encompasses 28 lessons covering topics such as Allah, the Qur’an, Islam, Rasulullah (S), the Hadith and Sunnah, and the 5 Pillars of Islam. The intention is to lay the groundwork of Islam. For instance, six lessons delve into the 5 Pillars, five lessons provide a brief introduction to five Rasuls and Nabis, and nine lessons focus on Islamic values and morals. Each lesson starts with a coloring page, which helps children settle in and feel comfortable before beginning the lesson. Considering children’s short attention spans, concise paragraphs introduce two or three concepts. These are followed by an in-class review section that offers a brief break and reinforces learning. The book includes some homework, but schools and parents are encouraged to obtain a separate workbook featuring additional test questions and chapter-related activities.
