The renown of Tārīkh al-Khulafā’ in Arabic is well-deserved and it seldom fades from circulation. Within its original form, it encompasses the chronicles of all those who have held the title of khulafā’, extending until the era in which as-Suyuti himself resided. This volume by Ta-Ha serves as a sequel to The Khalifahs who followed the righteous path, delving into the Umayyad Caliphs. Abu’l-Faḍl cAbd ar-Raḥmān Jalāl ad-Dīn as-Suyūṭī entered this world on the night of Saturday, the 1st of Rajab 849 AH (3rd October 1445 CE). As-Suyūṭī excelled in numerous traditional disciplines of his time, particularly in those associated with hadith knowledge. His literary legacy encompasses over five hundred compositions covering a wide array of subjects, including Qur’an, Sunnah, hadith, fiqh, sirah, and medicine. His most prominent achievement remains his finalization of the tafsīr of the Qur’an, known as the Jalālayn, a task left incomplete upon the passing of Jalāl ad-Dīn al-Maḥallī. He departed from this world on Thursday, the 18th of Jumādā al-Ūlā, 911 AH (17th October 1505 CE), may Allah shower His mercy upon him.
