The Beacon of Basra by Imam Ibn Jawzi

Abu Sa’eed Al-Hasan Al-Basri was a remarkable figure in Islamic history, possessing virtues and qualities that are rarely found in a single individual. He was a Tabi’i, an Imam of elevated rank, an exegete of the Qur’an, a jurist, and known for his immense worship, asceticism, and reflection. He accumulated a wealth of knowledge that has been preserved and passed down through the centuries. The famous Companion, Abdullah ibn ‘Umar al-Khattab, testified to Al-Hasan’s status by saying, “Had the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him met Al-Hasan, he would have been pleased with him.” Al-Hasan’s character and etiquette closely resembled that of a Sahabi (Companion of the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him).
