Presented here is a compilation comprising six volumes from the Islamic Education Series, a direct response to the pressing demand for Islamic studies resources in schools that are incorporating the subject in English. To meet this critical need, Darussalam has undertaken the ambitious endeavor of creating an Islamic Studies series that spans the entire spectrum of education, encompassing grades one through twelve. This comprehensive series leaves no facet of Islamic studies untouched, covering tafseer, hadeeth, tawheed, fiqh, seerah, and general etiquette that is relevant across diverse areas and situations.
The significance of authentic Islamic knowledge is paramount, driving every step of the publication process to ensure that the material presented within this series is genuinely authentic. The importance of Arabic Islamic terms is also duly acknowledged, with the majority of terms presented in their original Arabic script, accompanied by meticulous transliterations and comprehensive translations. This approach extends even to supplications, which are thoughtfully presented in their Arabic version, and intended for memorization. The overarching aim is to facilitate the reader’s engagement with the original text, thereby enhancing understanding.
Every lesson in this series is thoughtfully complemented by exercises designed to probe and reinforce its content, fostering a deeper comprehension of the material. An exceptional feature that distinguishes this series is the infusion of vibrant and captivating artwork. This artistic element is not only visually appealing but is strategically incorporated to resonate with young readers, evoking their interest, igniting their imagination, and, most importantly, educating them.
The central goal of this series is to acquaint students comprehensively with the teachings of Islam across every aspect, encompassing beliefs, practices, and moral conduct. This series, characterized by its distinctive attributes, effectively addresses a notable gap that has been partially neglected in this realm for an extended period.
This remarkable endeavor was set into motion by education specialist Maulvi Abdul Aziz, MA in English literature, whose diverse roles include Senior Administrative Officer in the Department of Private Education, Ministry of Education, Dubai, UAE, from 1982 to 2002. The present form and existence of this project are a result of collaborative efforts, with significant contributions from individuals such as Al-Arabee Ben Razzouq from the College of Languages and Translation at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud University, Riyadh. Al-Arabee meticulously undertook the painstaking task of verifying the authenticity of the material, meticulously proofreading the text, and incorporating references to pivotal Qur’anic and hadeeth quotations. Recognition is also extended to Sheikh Abdul-Qawiy Luqman, an Al-Madeenah University graduate, for insightful contributions, and to Mr. Zulfiqar Mahmood, who conscientiously applied his expertise in the field of graphic design to create a superb presentation.
As we embark upon this journey, we invoke the blessings of Almighty Allah, seeking the reward of our endeavors and the abundant benefit of the present series for students at all stages of education, as well as for anyone who engages with its content. Abdul Malik Mujahid, Jumaadaa ath-Thaaniyah, 1428 AH. July 2007.
