History of Islam: Ali Ibn Abi Taalib (R.A)

Introducing the “A Reader Series: Ali ibn Abi Taalib (R.A.)” – an exploration of the History of Islam during the age of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs. This marks the fourth installment in the series, delving into the remarkable life of Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A.), the last of the Four Rightly-Guided Caliphs.

Ali’s significance resonates deeply as he emerged as the first male to embrace Islam at the tender age of around nine. He shared a special bond as the beloved cousin of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and was the son of Abu Talib, a staunch and protective uncle who shielded the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم during the early challenges of his Prophethood.

Ali’s unwavering dedication to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was exemplified during the Hijrah (migration) from Makkah to Madinah. He courageously acted as the Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم decoy, allowing the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to escape under the cover of night, accompanied by Abu Bakr (R.A.).
